English Assignment

The synopsis of this story is about two musicians playing as a one man band. They were trying to get the little girl's attention. She has only one coin whereby at first, she planned to throw the coin inside the fountain. But she got distracted by the two musicians. Both of them were playing different types of music by using variant of music instruments. Without realizing that they were tremendously good when they were playing together compared to when they were playing solo, they keep on fighting with each other.

Out of a sudden, the little girl did the unexpected thing. She dropped the coin and it fell down inside a drain. That changes everything. In the end, both of the musicians did not get anything at all from the girl.

There are many themes in this story. One of it is the competition between the two musicians. In the beginning of the story, we can see that they were highly competing with each other. They were willing to do just about anything for that one coin but in the end, they gain nothing. So, we can see that sometimes people can get crazy in order to get what they want.

Other theme such as the value of irony is greatly shown in this story. The type of irony that is shown in this story is a situational irony. It is a kind of an irony when something happens and a reversal of expectations occur. This type of irony can be seen when the girl dropped the coin and lost it. So, now she did not have any money. So, what she did was that she took one of the music instruments from the musicians and played a very wonderful music until a strange man dropped a bag of money for her. So, now the musicians is trying again to get the money again but this time, she tricked them by not giving them the money. So, that's the irony of the story.
