Cutting Loose

By Muhammad Danial

When someone drives you to the limit, it ultimately leads to the critical point of one's relationship. That is the point when you finally realize, her puzzle pieces does not fit yours, perfectly. This is the problems faced by many couples today but for some, breaking even harder than others. Problems range anywhere from awkwardness, shyness or just waiting for the right moment to cut the tie. Needless to say, everyone tries to avoid doing so unless there is really no other choice. However, a relationship can be ended well if executed specifically, with a clear closure, being fully honest with each other and doing it in person.

First and foremost, an appropriate closure is vital for a break-up to end peacefully. It should consist of a clear statement for the reason of the breakup but this should be done in totally confidentiality. This will eliminate any uncertainty and misunderstandings in the near future regarding the actual reason of the break up. Besides, she deserves to know the awful truth however painful it might seem to her; give her the rights to know.

In addition to that, we have to adhere to the principle “honesty is always the best policy”. This saying is always true including a break up situation. Do not hesitate to break the news to her because prolonging the relationship will only make the cancer in your heart, worse. Explain to her the reason with full honesty because a painful truth is better than a sweet lie. Even so, try cushioning the blow so that she will not take it too hard.

Finally, do break up in person instead of the phone or worse, text messaging. It is better for her to hear the new from the horse’s mouth because it shows that you still appreciate and respect her. Console her but at the same time, don’t give her hope that there is anything left. You need to make it clear that it can never work out. This is the exact reason why breaking up must be done in person.

It is clear that cutting lose from relationships doesn’t necessarily translate into permanent heartaches, bruises and battle scars. No doubt, the perfect execution is absolutely important for it to end as planned. Therefore, plan the moment well and hope for it to end in the best possible manner.
